Our Process

Panda’s mission is to produce (and play) the best games in the business. Our process is a full service, end-to-end partnership that begins with understanding your game and your goals. We bring our gaming expertise to help you realize your dream and make a game that you’ll be proud of.

QUALITY CONTROL

Quality control is built-in throughout the Panda process with three main checkpoints along the way. The first is design verification, where we ensure that your files and designs are correctly formatted for printing. The second is component sampling and the Pre-Production Copy (PPC), which confirms that your game is ready for mass production. The third is your Mass Production Copy (MPC), which makes certain your game is ready for assembly and shipping.

1 QUOTATION

Panda Quotes are free! Just sign-up and submit your quote request. Our pricing begins at a minimum order quantity of 2000 units, and there is no maximum order quantity. We are happy to provide quotes for multiple versions of your game (such as a retail version and a Kickstarter version).

Once you submit a quote request, one of our Project Managers will reach out to learn about your game, answer any questions you have, and begin pricing your game. We can assist you in generating stretch goal ideas for your Kickstarter campaign and help you to select the components that make the most sense for your game. Once you sign a contract, your Project Manager will schedule a video call with you to officially kick off the project.

2 DESIGN VERIFICATION

Our Design Verification process ensures that your files are ready for production. Your Panda prepress specialist will review your printed files to ensure they meet our design guidelines for printing. We can even begin Design Verification work before you’ve signed a final manufacturing contract. You can help this process move more quickly by familiarizing yourself with our design guidelines and ensuring your files meet them before uploading them.

If your game has custom plastics, our plastics engineers can analyze your 3D designs or physical sculpts to provide suggestions and tips for minor design tweaks that may save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Our wood, dice, and metal component teams can also analyze your component designs, ensure they are suitable for manufacturing, and provide suggestions and solutions for changes. As a final checkpoint during the design verification step of a project, we will create a full set of online digital proofs to review and approve before we begin the sampling process.

3 PRE-PRODUCTION

Once your files and designs are approved, we will make a Pre-Production Copy, or PPC: a single, near-final quality prototype version of the printed components of your game (box, rules, cards, punchboards, game boards, etc.). It will be air shipped to you at no extra cost. Your Project Manager will review it with you live on a video call to identify any final changes needed before full-scale mass production. We also provide samples at no extra charge, of all plastic, wood, metal, dice, and other non-printed components to ensure that you are satisfied before mass production.

4 MASS PRODUCTION

Once your PPC and component samples are approved, we begin mass production. When mass production is nearly complete, we will send you the Mass Production Copy, or MPC, which is the first full, final, and complete mass production version of your game. It is the last checkpoint before we begin assembly and shipping of the rest of your games. Your MPC will be air shipped to you at no additional cost. Upon arrival, your Project Manager will review it with you live on a video call to ensure that it is precisely the way you want it.

5 ASSEMBLY

After you approve the MPC, we assemble your games. Our dedicated quality control team inspects your components to check that everything is complete and correct as it’s assembled into the box. All of Panda’s games come with a 99% defect-free quality promise. We also ship you spare components at no extra charge that you can use as needed for the occasional replacement part request from your backers and customers.

6 SHIPPING

Once a print run is complete, it needs to get to its destination. Panda creates customized cartons and carton markings to package the finished games. These cartons are palletized and shrink-wrapped (or floor loaded, if you prefer) at no extra charge. Our door-to-door shipping services (not included in the manufacturing price) get your games delivered from our factory in China to your choice of location(s). We can ship games by the ocean, air, or land, depending on your budget and timing needs. We work with a network of experienced global shipping partners to ensure your games arrive safely and on time. If you prefer to work with your shipping agent who will arrange a pick up of the games from our factory on your behalf, you are welcome to do so with no additional fees.
