A game by: Odd Bird Games

Panda recently finished working on one of our biggest endeavors yet, the massive Euro game and Kickstarter hit, Feudum. It is one of the most impressive and ambitious projects that Panda has ever worked on.

Feudum is centered on hand and resource management mechanics. What really makes this game shine is its unique medieval world which comes to life through Justin Schultz’s artwork. It has one of the biggest, most beautiful boards we’ve ever produced and some of the best resin pieces as well. It truly is a work of art.

Feudum was designed and published by Mark Swanson, the founder of Odd Bird Games. We started working with Mark back in 2015, when he came to us to begin developing his quotes. The artwork wasn’t finished and designs for pieces had not yet been finalized. It took nearly a year and a half to get everything sufficiently established before Mark could launch his Kickstarter in November of 2016. The campaign was a great success with over 3,000 backers.

Feudum has a many beautiful components and we wanted them all to be perfect. We quickly realized that many of what we thought would be wood pieces would have to be made of resin, so we started samples immediately. It took a few iterations to get everything just right.

Our print factory did a great job making these rainbow foil cards.

Last but not least, we have to show off the box display when you have all of the expansions. The latest expansion, The Queen’s Army, will be coming out later this year.

Feudum is a very complex project with 15 unique SKUs. For us, that meant assembly and shipping could be a logistical nightmare. We created many spreadsheets and had many calls with our production team in China to prevent any issues. Assembly took longer than usual, but we managed to ship everything without a hitch. At the time this is posted, Kickstarter backers will most likely have their games.

We’re already enjoying working on the newest Feudum expansion, the Queen’s Army, which adds a solo variant, and we’re looking forward to more epic games from Odd Bird Games. For more information on Feudum check out the BGG page and Odd Bird’s website.
