Resin pieces (such as those found in the Stonemaier Games treasure chests), are less expensive to produce at lower quantities because there are no mold (tooling) charges. However, they do not allow for the same level of detail. So, if you have pieces that are more geometric in shape, resin would be a good choice. But if you have pieces that are complex humanoid or animal figures, custom plastic is probably a better choice than resin.
